Theranostics: Improving Lives with New Targeted Cancer Treatments

Theranostics: Improving Lives with New Targeted Cancer Treatments
02.08.2024

Cowell Family Cancer Center now offers theranostics to treat cancer – 1 of only 5 facilities in Michigan.

Theranostics uses a fixed PET scanner to find cancer cells then, through a series of injections, eliminate them in a precise, targeted manner.

Because of its precision, theranostics reduces the risk of harming nearby healthy tissues and can result in fewer side effects than traditional chemotherapy.

Currently, theranostic treatment is only indicated for patients with advanced prostate and neuroendocrine cancers.
