Travelling? What to Do When Working Out of the Country

Travelling? What to Do When Working Out of the Country
11.25.2024

No matter where you travel, maintaining data security is always important. Here are helpful tips while travelling:

  • Not working during your time off? Don’t travel with a work device (like a laptop); use a personal device instead.
  • Turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals when you are not using them. Avoid connecting to free, public Wi-Fi spots like the ones available in bars, cafes, resorts, and hotel lobbies.
  • Munson restricts access from other countries. If you think you’ll need to access Storefront, VPN, email, or OneDrive, you should tether/connect through your personal mobile device/hotspot to use its high-speed international data. (Check with your mobile service provider about any additional costs required when tethering.)
  • If mobile hotspot quality is insufficient, you can also submit a CSAR for temporarily allowing local Internet access for the specific region(s) in which you are traveling. Be prepared to indicate the location you are travelling to, external IP address in use (StoreFront only), and how long you’ll need the access.
  • If you lose a Munson-issued device at any time, you are required to contact the Help Desk by calling 231-935-6053 immediately.
  • To remove access for lost devices via the web: If you have access to Munson email on your phone, go to your Microsoft account and select “Devices.” Then expand the device list and click “Disable lost device.”
