Munson Healthcare Manistee Hospital and Munson Healthcare Crawford Continuing Care Center (Grayling) have both earned an MRPO 2019 Governor’s Award of Excellence.
The awards recognize participants for their dedication and success in improving health care quality and patient safety in Michigan. To be eligible for an award, participants must have achieved, maintained, and continually improved in specific and rigorous milestones related to the award they received.
Manistee Hospital earned its award for increasing identification of behavioral health conditions in its physician practices.
“The staff in our Primary Care and Family Care offices have done tremendous work to develop processes to help identify behavioral health conditions during patient visits,” said Manistee Hospital CEO James Barker. “Mental health is just as important as physical health. Identifying conditions such as depression and alcohol abuse in our clinics allows us to help patients get the care they need and improve their quality of life.”
Crawford Continuing Care Center, a 39-bed, short-term rehabilitation community attached to Grayling Hospital, earned an award for improving nursing home care in healthcare-acquired conditions.
“Crawford Continuing Care staff has worked diligently with our eldercare physician group in the reduction of antipsychotics use in our facility. Through constant monitoring and reductions, our residents’ lives were improved without medications that cause so many other side effects,” said Nursing Home Administrator Marilyn Heard. “Winning the Governor’s Award is a victory for those we care for and our staff for all their hard work.”
