The CDC released a study concluding there were no new safety concerns for children 6 months - 5 years of age who received a 3rd dose of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine. Most reported reactions were mild and transient.
The CDC recommends all children ages 6 months - 5 years receive at least 1 age-appropriate bivalent mRNA COVID-19 vaccine dose. Depending on their COVID-19 vaccination history and history of immunocompromise, these children might also need additional doses.
As Michigan’s overall childhood vaccination rates have declined during recent years, please encourage parents to keep up to date on vaccinating their children against preventable illnesses.
The I Vaccinate initiative (supported by MHA) educates Michigan parents about the safety and effectiveness of childhood immunizations. To help reach the goal of providing appropriate and necessary immunizations to every child in Michigan, the I Vaccinate Provider Toolkit helps providers navigate vaccine conversations with parents.
