Needs stretch to 24 counties with focus on Traverse City, Cadillac and Grayling
Navigating the final journey of life with dignity and comfort takes a special friend. Munson Hospice offers volunteer opportunities for those who want to help.
Volunteer recruiter Kjirsten Boeve said the organization helps those who are no longer seeking a cure find peace and comfort during the final phase of life.
“Munson Hospice addresses each individual’s medical, physical, emotional and spiritual needs by providing a multi-disciplinary team,” she said. “As part of that team we are seeking volunteers who can provide for a variety of needs including respite care for the family, household support and comforting conversation, clerical work, personal care, and professional services based on interests and comfort levels. In addition, there is also a need for volunteer beauticians, massage therapists, pet therapists, and musicians.”
Although hospice care most often is provided in a patient’s home, it also can be provided in a family member’s home, skilled nursing facility, adult foster care home, hospital, or at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City.
Volunteers are needed throughout northern Michigan and especially in the Traverse City, Cadillac and Grayling areas. All volunteers are required to complete a training class prior to starting their role.
