West Shore Medical Center Auxiliary to Host Garage Sale

West Shore Medical Center Auxiliary to Host Garage Sale
05.13.2017

The West Shore Medical Center Auxiliary will host a garage sale on May 19 and 20 to benefit the volunteer group’s pledge to purchase advanced lifesaving devices for West Shore’s ambulance fleet. The sale will be held behind the hospital at 1465 E. Parkdale Ave. in Manistee from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 19 and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 20.

The public is invited to donate gently used items from 1 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 at the sale site. All items should be clean and in good working order, and clothing should be folded neatly or on hangers. Pre-pricing of items is greatly encouraged. Unsold items will be donated to local charities.

The units to be purchased by the Auxiliary serve multiple lifesaving purposes on the ambulance, including external cardiac defibrillation for patients with an abnormal heart rhythm, monitoring of vital signs, and alerting emergency medical personnel of changes in patient status. The machines also store and transmit data from the field, allowing hospital-based professionals to view and interpret the information and make informed decisions about the patient’s care.

With a team of over 100 members, the West Shore Medical Center Auxiliary provides support throughout the hospital, operates the Bits of Cheer Gift Shop in the hospital lobby, and is active in fundraising efforts.
