Winter Helmet Safety Clinics Offered Across Region
01.26.2023

Free helmet safety clinics are offered by the Munson Healthcare sponsored Chill Out for Winter Safety program at recreation areas in both Fife Lake and Charlevoix on Feb. 11.

Munson Healthcare team member Tammie Budrow started the program to help prevent other families from experiencing the tragic loss her family faced when a 2007 sledding accident claimed the life of her daughter. The Chill Out program features “Beary Careful” a friendly bear who helps teach children winter safety tips.

“We are offering free helmets for children involved in winter activities such as skiing, skating, and sledding and our clinics will help ensure they get the right helmet with the right fit,” she said.

The Chill Out team will be at Fife Lake’s Springfield Park for Carly’s Hill Snow Fun Day Cardboard Classic on Feb. 11 between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

The team will also be at Mount McSauba in Charlevoix on Feb. 11 and offer a presentation from 10 – 10:45 a.m. and a helmet clinic from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
