Amy's Birthday Fundraiser

Help Amy reach her goal of $3,000 for 3D mammography equipment at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital by the end of March!

Two thousand and nineteen was a challenging year for the Schindler family. To start, Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer in February and experienced multiple surgeries. Amy's middle son spent 20 days in the Intensive Care Unit, 28 days in the hospital, and is fortunate to be healthy today. At the same time, Amy's father fought a long battle with heart disease and lung cancer and passed away in October.

Amy is happy to be cancer free in 2020! To celebrate her birthday this year, Amy would like to raise funds for 3D mammography so other women in northern Michigan can be diagnosed early and live long, healthy lives!

Breast cancer is the most common invasive cancer in women - one in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Early detection and advancements in screenings are key factors in improving outcomes. Digital breast tomosynthesis, also known as 3D mammography, is a revolutionary new screening and diagnostic imaging tool that provides clearer images of abnormalities within dense breast tissue. This technology also reduces false positives and patient callbacks for additional imaging by up to 40 percent. Effective treatment begins with proper diagnosis and Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital strives to use the latest technology to help our team provide accurate diagnoses and timely results.

The cost for a new 3D mammography unit at the hospital is $375,000.

Let's bring this technology to Frankfort and surrounding communities. By having 3D mammography, Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital will be able to provide the right care in the right place, close to home.
