Lodging at Munson Manor Hospitality House
Munson Manor Hospitality House is a “home away from home” for family members of out-of-town patients who face the added stress of traveling during a loved one’s hospitalization. The facility is also available for patients and their caregivers who must provide their own lodging during outpatient treatments and procedures.
Munson Manor offers 30 rooms that can accommodate up to 54 people, including two RV pads with connections. The room charge varies by room type from $30 to $55 per night. Special room payment arrangements are available to those in financial need. Because the room charge is minimal, we welcome guest donations to help ensure that we may continue providing these services to others in the future.
Munson Manor is located behind Munson Medical Center at 1220 Medical Campus Drive (corner of Brook Street). A reservation is advised by calling 231-935-2300. If you are at a Munson Medical Center courtesy phone, dial 5-2300.
Munson Manor is a non-profit operation sponsored by Munson Medical Center and the Munson Healthcare Foundations. It is a smoke and alcohol free environment.
Resources and Learning Center at the Cowell Family Cancer Center
The Health and Wellness Suite at the Cowell Family Cancer Center has a resource center with books and other media that patients and caregivers are welcome to borrow. We use an honor system for borrowing materials.
Resources include a variety of health and wellness topics – many specific to cancer – including natural medicine, nutrition, yoga, meditation, imagery, self-healing techniques, emotional health, acupuncture, shiatsu, music therapy, art therapy, and mindfulness. There is a section of children’s health and wellness books. Resources also include CDs of meditation music and DVDs of meditation and yoga.
Various workbooks and puzzles are available for patients, family members, and caregivers to use while in the center. We have mandalas for coloring, Sudoku puzzle books, crossword puzzle books, and manipulative brain teaser puzzles available for adults and children. You are never too old to color. Use of mandalas provides a stress relief opportunity for all. You likely will find workbook materials in waiting rooms throughout the cancer center and in the resource center. Jigsaw puzzles are available for use in the Cowell Family Cancer Center. Puzzles can be found on tables throughout the cancer center being solved by the community. Puzzles are stored in the resource center.
