DEA License Renewal Training
The new Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act requires most licensed prescribers who are either renewing or applying for a new controlled substance DEA license to have completed at least 8 hours of opioid or other substance use disorders (SUD) training. The MATE act went into effect on June 27, 2023.

Additionally, prescriptions for buprenorphine now only require a standard DEA registration number. The x-waiver is no longer required for any prescriber to treat patients with buprenorphine for opioid use disorder. Learn more about this change.
