Lung Nodule Referral Program

The Munson Medical Center Lung Nodule Referral Program allows primary care physicians or specialists to refer patients to a multidisciplinary team including pulmonology, cardiothoracic surgery, interventional radiology, and oncology. Our goal is to provide expedited risk assessment, diagnostic work-up, and treatment planning with a patient navigator facilitating the process.

Referral Guidelines

• Pulmonary nodule >8mm
• Pulmonary nodule 6-8mm with risk factors for malignancy
  • Significant smoking history
  • Growth over time
  • Spiculated
  • Family history of lung cancer
  • History of other types of cancer with concern for metastatic disease
• Lung-RADS Category 3 or 4 on low-dose CT scan
• When in doubt, refer it out!
